although it sounds really cool, it could never work, it would have to be in mission form.

the way guild wars works couldn't ever support this...even though it is really cool.

Plus, I don't want to skip a cutscene everytime, or even take time seeing a boat when I change continents... I just want to get there....go farming...you know.

LOL @ WOW related suggestion.

WOW needs this becaue of no instancing. There would be problems with the timing if they didn't have it. We don't need this because of instances.

And the people who says "Sure, it will be nice to have it just the first time"

If you're only going to see it once, whats the point?

A better idea would be...

Tweak the ship so that you could travel to the town of your choice, so that people with slower PCs wouldn't die and have to load for 10 minutes in Kaineng.

You mean like the cutscene where you are taking the ship from Sanctum Cay to Amnnon Oasis.NO I don't think.

While we're at it, why not add a land travel whenever we map to a different town on the same map? The current method is annoying enough. I hate having to go through the Temple of Balthazar just to get to the arenas.

I'm more in behind the idea of all areas in one big world map rather than make the transfer more longer.

I reckon it would be good the first time, but we all known that we skip cut scenes after the first time (unless cool scene, like rurik dieing [thank you god]).

And then again why would Anet bother to make it if people are simply going to skip it after the first time? And for those who would link my remark to the last, having a cutscene which involves a mission is probably different to one where you sail off to another continent.

I actually like sailing on ships to get around in online RPG's, so I understand where the OP's coming from, but it just wouldn't fit in GW. The whole point of map travel is that you can go anywhere you want instantly.

For people who want to sail on a ship, here's my idea: An outpost. It'd be just like a normal outpost (selectable map location) except that it would be a big ship that always appears to be sailing out in the middle of the ocean. Something like this would be easy to work into the story. To get there the first time, you're in some city somewhere and the story calls for you to sail to some place or other. You talk to a guy at the docks and tell him you want to sail there. You end up at the ship outpost, in the middle of the ocean. From there, you can look for PUGs just like in any other outpost, and then talk to the captain when you're ready to go to the destination. From then on, you can just select the ship as if it were any other normal map location. And those who want to spend time sailing around in the ocean can go there and sit on the ship as long as they want. :P

/not signed. Having ships is a cool idea, but it just doesn't fit GW. Now having the ship we currently have is something completely different, and really, really anoying. If there was a cinimatic there, I don't think my characters would ever go to different continents unless I have to.

Or better yet, we finally have the maps merged. That would mean its all one big map. It would make the world feel more like a world instead of random continents that are supposedly close to each other. It would also greatly benifit the people with the slower computers. I have already come up with ways to prevent being able to go to chapters you haven't bought yet(in other posts and I don't want to type them yet again), so that isn't a problem, and there will be no anoying boat thing!

I'm starting to think I should just make a new thread on this merged map thing since no one ever seems to notice it...
